To Prove I'm Committed

I've been busy. Oscar and I are moving to a new apartment. Yay. My current apartment is absolute chaos. Which means my brain is chaos. I swear I'm having deep thoughts, but they're tangled up in tape or something. But it should be better by the end of next week. In the meantime, here's what I'm wearing today:

I broke down and went to the outlets last weekend. This shirt is from Banana Republic. I did really well there in fact. I feel like a ballerina in this shirt, especially with my hair in the ponytail and headband. My hair is filthy.

Yesterday was cooler than usual, so my run was amazing. I haven't loved a run like that in weeks.

Tah.

Not My Usual Style, but . . .

Long story, which I will get to later, but Oscar and I were in Spartanburg last week, sitting in his mother's living room. She pulled out a kelly green shirt with ruffles along the collar and sleeves and asked if I wanted it. She'd bought it at Sam's and it ended up not fitting right. It's not my usual style, but I tried it on anyway. Still, not quite my style but something told me to take it. I'm glad I did. It's totally cute with my black skirt.  Outside of my wardrobe, it wasn't my style. Inside my wardrobe, it's a great green top.  Anything in your wardrobe that's not your usual style? Do tell.

Question about Fashion Points

No picture today. Yesterday I wore a teal T-shirt with a black pencil skirt. Today is just a blouse and jeans. But I have a question. Why does a skirt make something work appropriate? I only wore a T-shirt yesterday. With jeans, it's casual. With slacks, less so. With a skirt, I can wear it to work with all the confidence I want. And it was just a stiff cotton skirt. Nothing fancy.

Just wondering.

Last Day

The last day of "Morphing."

I'm back in Fossil today. This dress is ridiculously similar to yesterday's shirt.

I blew out the highlights so you could see the pattern of the dress.

I pulled yellow in the yellow from yesterday's belt with today's shoes.

I love these shoes. I bought them for myself as a graduation present five years ago. Back when $50 seemed mind blowingly expensive to me, these were $100. But I loved them. Loved them. They're Simples. The sole is recycled tire. I just read that Simple has gone out of business. Sad.

There's no song today. But did you notice how each song sounded like the next?

Creative

I'm continuing with purple and gray today. But it's an entirely new look. I love this shirt. It's from Fossil and has pockets. I love Fossil's clothes and fortunately for me, everything I've purchased from them has been on sale. Otherwise, they're too pricey, even for my J.Crew loving self.

To answer Alana's question, no. Nobody at work has noticed my Fashion Point of the Week. They're all men except Brooke, who's only here part time.

Speaking of work, I'm wanting to start some free-lance stuff and I need a name. I want it to reflect that I offer creative services. It can't have the word "Designs" in it because that's not all I do. Plus, it sounds like an interior decorator.  That pretty much leaves "_________ Creative." My name is out because it's boring and people will misspell it. Just my initials? CJ Creative? Meh. Sounds like a diner. But then, there is See Jay Creative, which has a nice look about it. And there's always Carmingular Creative, but it always has to be spelled out for people. Apparently, carmingular isn't phonetic enough. Any thoughts . . . any direction would be greatly appreciated. The answer is right there. I just need something to make me see it.

Oh yeah. Today, listen to "Losing my Religion" by R.E.M.

Plaid and Polka Dots, you say?

Quickly.

Today's outfit plays of the polka dots from yesterday. And vaguely, the red pants.

The plaid of the skirt has one stripe of a rusty red running through it.

Also, how rad am I for mixing plaid and polka dots? I think it's successful and awesome. Forget that the plaid is practically a neutral.

Tomorrow, we finally get away from the polka dots.

French (for) New Wave

Navy with constellations to navy with polka dots. This look, with the red pants is slightly Nouvelle Vague. The bow on the shirt also makes it a little naughty librarian.

This isn't a far stretch from yesterday. I looked in my closet last night and realized I could just stay with polka dots all week. Worry not. I won't do that. Just tomorrow. I pretty much have the week planned out. Convenient, eh?

Confirming what an awkward photographer/model I am, all of today's photos were headless. I can model or I can photograph. But both? Nope. I need feedback.

Today, listen to "We Both Go Down Together" by The Decemberists.
